The 70 Weeks Prophecy of Daniel
ISRAEL
The evangelist Marcus reports: "I assure you, this generation will not pass by until all this has happened".
Jesus has just given an impressive speech about the end time, when He makes this very important statement mentioned above.
This generation in the above prophecy refers to both the generation in which Christ lived and the generation in the end times!
But how long does a generation last? We'll let the Bible talk about it.
In Psalm 90 it is said that when Israel lives in tribulation, a generation lasts 80 years at the most!
And Israel in tribulation has been the case since its foundation in 1948.
Therefore we can say that the generation mentioned by Jesus Christ lasts 80 years at the most.
But when in the end time does this last generation start?
If you take a good look at the context in which this statement was made, you will see that Israel must once again be mentioned as a country, as a state.
It is even pointed out, that the Jewish Temple is there again !
This means that the last generation probably started at the foundation of the State of Israel, on May 14 1948.
Or is the State of Israel not a fact until May 11, 1949 ?
Because only then did the UN recognize Israel as a member of the UN. And in terms of international law, that is decisive.
In that case the last generation (80 years), which will experience everything from the end, would not be until May 2029.
But only God knows when the state of Israel was really a fact!
The prophet Hosea says the following: "After two days He makes us alive again, on the third day He makes us rise again to live in His presence".
We suspect that a day here refers to a millennium (1000 years).
The third day would then mark the third millennium from the birth of Jesus, in which the Jewish people would rise, repent to Jesus Christ and live for Him.
We think this time is very close. But the Jewish Temple is still missing!
The opening of the 6th Seal by Jesus as described in the "Book of Revelation" probably won't take long....
The 70 WEEKS
The prophet Daniel hears the following from the angel Gabriel:
"Seventy weeks are fixed for your people and your holy city, before the transgressions come to an end and the sins are closed, before the
misbehaviour is retaliated for and eternal justice is brought, before the prophetic vision is sealed and to anoint something most sacred.
You must know and understand: From the moment when the word is spoken that Jerusalem will be restored and rebuilt until the time when an anointed monarch appears, 7 weeks will elapse;
and the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the city, with squares and ramparts and all, will take 62 weeks, and it will be a time of tribulation.
After 62 weeks, an anointed one will be murdered without anyone standing up for him.
The people of a future sovereign will bring destruction to the city and the sanctuary. He will find his end in a flood.
Until the end of the battle there will be devastation, as has been established.
He'll make a strong alliance with many, one week.
At half the week he shall not have any sacrifices or gifts brought, and on top of the altar shall a devastating abomination be seen, until the announced end of that devastating power comes" .
This prophetic biblical text contains the tantalizing passage about the "70 weeks", which has been researched countless times by lots of people.
From the context we deduce that "a week" is an annual week. This means, that every day of this week is a year.
There is talk of "70 weeks", which means that there are 490 years.
In a period of 490 years, what is written in this passage will be fulfilled.
In this passage there is talk of a definitive plan of God, which has been "established" and which cannot be questioned.
What is further noticeable is that the 490 years, which are mentioned, are not consecutively fulfilled.
The plan is divided into two parts.
In fact, the text states that after 7 year weeks from the moment the word went out to rebuild Jerusalem, the actual rebuilding of Jerusalem begins.
That word went out on March 6, 444 B.C., to Christian era.
And 49 years later, at the time of the governor Nehemiah, the rebuilding of Jerusalem was begun.
Then, after 49 years of waiting, you can start counting with the 490 years of the "70 weeks".
Simply because only then will there actually be Jerusalem!
Then it says that Jerusalem will remain intact as the capital of Israel for 62 weeks, or 434 years, before "an anointed one will be murdered".
The "anointed one" turns out to be Jesus Christ.
For when the 62 weeks of age, or 434 years have passed, we are on 29 March 33 A.D., according to Christian era.
Both astronomical data and written evidence show that Jesus' date of death was 3 April 33 AD.
This means that Jesus' death falls in the 63rd week of the year.
So we must count that after His death, resurrection, ascension and proclamation by the apostles 63 weeks, or 441 years, of the 70 year weeks have passed.
That's the first part of God's 70-week plan. There are still 7 weeks left, or 49 years.
When will the second part be completed?
The year 1948 is the year of the founding of the Jewish state of Israel !
Or is the year 1949 the year of the creation of the state of Israel after all ?
It is written that that generation, which sees Israel flourish, will witness the return of Jesus.
We have found a Bible text, in Psalm 90, which indicates that a generation lasts a maximum of 80 years.
We know that the first 63 weeks of the year come at the first coming of Jesus Christ on earth.
We suspect that the remaining 7 year weeks, or 49 years, will come out at the second coming of Jesus Christ on earth.
Is there a lead for that? Let's see what's in the text.
"From the moment when the word is uttered that Jerusalem will be restored and rebuilt until the time when an anointed monarch appears, seven weeks will pass".
Can we find the "word that is uttered" in modern times? Yes, indeed!
As part of its constitutional "Basic Law", Israel adopted the so-called "Jerusalem Law" on August 5 1980.
It determined the status of Jerusalem: It is the undivided capital of Israel as a whole.
It was also laid down that further development of the city was guaranteed.
Another important development is that in 1987 the Temple Institute started preparations for the construction of the 3rd Temple.
In 1986 at the IMF summit of the G10 in Tokyo, 3 countries were sidelined and they continued as the G7!
Would a possible scenario then be that in 1986 the last 49 years of the 70 weeks will culminate in the appearance of an "anointed King" ?
We already saw that the "anointed one" relates to Jesus Christ. Christ means, like messiah, anointed...
Ultimately, God will determine when He will consider Israel a state and when the 49 years of the "Jerusalem Law" will come into effect.
He ultimately determines the beginning and end of the last generation !
According to the text of the prophet Daniel, the "last week" of the 70 year weeks, i.e. the last 7 years before Christ's return, is under the rule
of someone erecting an "Abomination of Desolation" on the altar in the rebuilt Jewish Temple.
So these 7 years are the 7 years of reign of terror of the Antichrist !
The last 7 years of the 49 years, which we think have begun between 1980 and 1987, are these 7 years of the Anti-christ.
It is striking that since the 1980s the interest in and preparation for the 3rd Temple has been increasing among the Jews.
It is even said that the preparations would be ready. Clearly, there is a lot going on between the two.
Also from this perspective of the "70 weeks", seen through these glasses, it seems very likely that the terrible time under the Antichrist is approaching !
Be vigilant...
